Besonderheiten: Dieser seltene Single Malt Whisky aus der renommierten Glen Scotia Distillery wurde im Jahr 2000 destilliert und nach 25 Jahren in einem Refill American Hogshead-Fass im Juli 2025 von Gordon & MacPhail im Rahmen der exklusiven "The Awakening Series" abgefüllt. Mit einer Fassstärke von 57,5% Vol. und einer limitierten Auflage von nur 183 Flaschen präsentiert sich dieser Whisky in seiner reinsten Form.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nase: Feine maritime Noten mit salziger Meeresbrise, begleitet von Vanille, Honig und reifen Steinfrüchten. Dahinter entwickeln sich Aromen von hellem Holz, Leder und einem Hauch von Kräutern.
  • Gaumen: Sanft, ölig und wunderbar ausbalanciert – Aromen von süßem Malz, Karamell und Trockenfrüchten verbinden sich mit Gewürznoten, leichtem Rauch und einer Spur von Meersalz. Ein Hauch Zitronenschale und Eichenwürze sorgt für Frische und Struktur.
  • Abgang: Lang, elegant und warm – mit Noten von Honig, Vanille, getrockneten Früchten und maritimer Würze.

Destillerie/Abfüller: Die Glen Scotia Distillery, gegründet 1832, ist eine der ältesten Brennereien in Campbeltown, Schottland. Overall this is a very good product

I bought this because every sunblock I own eventually gets in my eyes and burns the living daylights out of them. I prefer to use something that isn't laden with chemicals, is cruelty free and reef safe so this looked like it would fit the bill and indeed, it does. It is a true "no tears" formula which I very much appreciate. As with so many zinc based sunblocks there's still a slight "Kabuki mask" effect but it isn't as bad as some of the other zinc products. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's easy to spread because it doesn't have a lot of "slip", doesn't glide like the non-zinc products. You do have to work with it for awhile to get rid of the decidedly chalky consistency but once you get going it seems to be okay. I think somebody else mentioned using a moisturizer before you put it on which seems like good idea even though this is supposed to be moisturizing. Would I purchase this again? I'm pretty sure I will because the "no tears" aspect of the product is important to me. I'll probably use it with a light carrier oil on my face first, let that oil sink in and then put this on top.
