Embark on a global journey through rare soul, funk, and Latin grooves with Miles Away: One, a meticulously curated compilation by Miles Away Records founder Dom Ore. This 2LP collection brings together legendary artists and hidden gems from around the world, offering a cohesive and soulful listening experience.
Opening with Idris Muhammad's spiritual jazz piece "I'm A Believer," the album transitions into modern soul and funk tracks that define Miles Away's signature sound. Highlights include Eugene Smiley's crossover-soul rarity "Yes It's You," Solid Gold Revue's dancefloor anthem "She's So Good," and Ruth Waters' extended version of "Superstar." Many of these tracks are appearing on vinyl for the first time since their original release.
The second disc explores diverse sonic landscapes, featuring soundtrack and library music from Czech composer Milan Kymlicka, Argentinian maestro Oscar Lopez Ruiz, and Italian songwriter Paolo Zavallone (aka Bimbo e i Milionari). Additional treasures include Laine August's 80s electro-pop gem "Be My Friend," Colour's stripped-back street-soul "Deeper," and Paulina Viroga's breezy Latin number "Vale Volar." The compilation concludes with Margaret Singana's powerful rendition of "Why Did You Do It."
Mastered and cut at AIR Studios, this release is pressed on 180g black vinyl and housed in a deluxe gatefold jacket. Accompanied by in-depth liner notes detailing each artist's history, Miles Away: One is a must-have for collectors and soul aficionados alike.
