The PouncePlay™ Motion-Activated Cat Toy Mat hides an electronic ball unit inside a 70 cm round fabric mat. The ball moves on its own — randomly, unpredictably, from beneath the fabric — replicating the movement pattern that triggers a cat’s hunting response more reliably than a toy sitting in plain view. Your cat hunts the shape under the surface, not the object itself.
Three selectable play modes let you match the session to your cat’s mood. An automatic rest-and-reactivate cycle means the toy manages itself when you’re not in the room — five minutes on, standby, then a short burst every hour to check whether anyone’s still interested. A pat on the mat brings it back to life for another five minutes whenever your cat decides to reinvestigate.
Getting started
- Charge the ball unit first. Connect via the included USB-C cable before the first use. Charging takes approximately 2 hours. Charge in a clear area — do not leave unattended while plugged in.
- Slide the ball into the mat pocket. The ball unit sits inside the fabric mat via the integrated pocket opening. Once seated, the mat cover drapes over it and lies flat on the floor.
- Power on. Long press the power key to turn the unit on. The ball will begin moving under the mat automatically in the default Normal Mode.
- Select a mode. Short press to cycle between Normal, Active, and Interactive modes. Try each and see which keeps your cat most engaged.
- Let the auto-cycle do the rest. The toy runs for 5 minutes then enters standby. It reactivates for 60 seconds every hour on its own. Pat the mat any time to start a fresh 5-minute session.
- Switch the LED off if needed. Double-click the power key to toggle the LED. Useful for darker rooms or at night.
- Power off. Long press the power key to switch the unit off completely.

- Supervise initial sessions. As with any motorised toy, supervise your cat during early use to confirm they’re engaging safely and the toy is moving freely under the mat.
- Don’t leave charging unattended. Charge on a hard, clear surface with the cable visible. Remove the USB-C cable once fully charged.
- Not for unsupervised play in multi-pet households with dogs. The ball unit is an electronic device — keep it away from dogs that chew.
Questions & answers
How does the ball move under the mat if it can’t see outside?
The ball unit uses an internal motor to drive movement in random directions. The mat sits loosely over the ball and moves with it, creating the unpredictable lump-under-fabric motion cats find irresistible. The ball doesn’t need to see your cat — it just keeps moving.
What’s the difference between Normal, Active, and Interactive modes?
Normal is a steady, moderate pace suitable for most cats. Active increases the speed and frequency of direction changes — better for younger or more energetic cats. Interactive mode varies the rhythm more unpredictably, with pauses and sudden movements designed to hold attention longer. Cycle through with a short press to find what your cat responds to best.
My cat patted the mat and nothing happened. What do I check?
First confirm the unit is powered on (long press the power key to turn on). The pat-to-activate function works when the unit is in standby mode — if it’s fully switched off, pat won’t wake it. Also check the charge level; a depleted battery may prevent the unit from starting. If the issue persists after charging, contact us.
Can I use this with more than one cat?
Yes. The 70 cm mat gives enough surface area for two cats to engage at the same time from different angles. Multi-cat households generally work well — watch the first session to make sure no one cat monopolises the space.
Can I order just a replacement cover?
Yes. The “Cover Only” variant on this listing is a replacement fabric mat cover — no ball unit included. Order it to swap in a fresh cover once the original shows wear, or to change the colour. The ball unit from your original order fits all cover variants.
Is this suitable for kittens?
The PouncePlay™ is designed for adult cats. For very young kittens, supervise carefully to ensure they don’t become overexcited or attempt to bite the ball unit through the cover. If in doubt, introduce the toy gradually in short supervised sessions.
