Gangs of outlaws were overrunning Oklahoma Territory when E. D. Nix was appointed U.S. marshal in 1893. His memoir evokes a time and place that brought criminals and merchants and cowpunchers and settlers together, often explosively. Oklahombres, originally published in 1929, is an authentic history of human wildness.

In these pages the Dalton brothers are shown in full career, as well as the Doolin gang, Bitter Creek Newcomb, Henry Starr, Cattle Annie, Rolla Kapp, Dick Yeager, the Jennings boys, and a large cast of cattle thieves, counterfeiters, and whiskey peddlers. Lawmen are no less memorable than the lawless: Bill Tilghman, Chris Madsen, and Heck Thomas are among the deputies who help Nix in his cleaning-up campaign. Adding to the richness of this account of early days in Oklahoma Territory are such personages as Judge Isaac Parker, Rose of Cimarron, and Chief Bacon Rind of the Osage Indians.

Nix himself emerges as a public official of great integrity. Because of his adherence to a code of honor, he could later say that during his administration not a single man was killed who was not a notorious lawbreaker. Perhaps his proudest moment came when he fired the gun that sent homesteaders rushing into the Cherokee Strip on September 16, 1893. That scene, described with cinematic vividness, is one of many high points in Oklahombres.

My Dog Likes It… But My Cat LOVES It!
Style: S-Level 2
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I originally bought this puzzle feeder for my dog, but surprisingly, my cat became obsessed with it! She has been using it since she was very young and figured it out incredibly fast. I love that it turns treat time into a fun mental challenge. Instead of simply giving treats between meals, it encourages problem-solving, movement, and natural foraging behaviors. It’s a great way to provide enrichment, keep them entertained, and stimulate their minds while rewarding them at the same time. The different compartments and sliding pieces keep things interesting, and it’s been durable enough to handle daily use. Watching my pets learn and interact with it is honestly one of my favorite things. If you’re looking for a way to keep your dog or cat mentally engaged while offering treats in moderation, I highly recommend it! 🐾 A great enrichment toy that makes snack time more rewarding and interactive.

Durable interactive fun for You and your Dog
Style: S-Level 2
It’s it’s an interactive toy if your dog isn’t lazy like my little boy. He likes to play, but he wants me to show him where everything is. It’s very doable because he’s rough and tough and it was much more reasonable than some of the other interactive toys..

Fun dog product
Style: S-Level 2
When I first got this, I loaded up the compartments and set it down for the dog – excited and interested to see what she would do. She looked at it smelled it walked away. Disappointed – after a few hours – I put it under a table where she has a little rug, she likes to lay on. The next day I could hear the little doors on the toy rattling and she got every single little treat. And she loves it. And it’s fun when she decides she wants a little snack that she doesn’t have to ask or beg for she goes to her little toy and takes one of the treats out of the holes. It surprises me she never tries to chew on it. And I haven’t figured out how to make it squeak yet, nor has the dog. But it’s something all for her and she loves it. And it cleans up easily too.

Great dog toy

I buy this on repeat for my dog. It was fun when he was just a puppy, learning. He loves it so much that I can now put treats or kibble in it, and since there are such positive associations with it, it's a great way to get him to eat.
