About the Author

While in college, John J. Seiden majored in sociology and political science with an interest in politics. He chose these two subjects with a desire to run for the U.S. Congress at a later date—which he did, in 1976, campaigning for Congress in Maryland’s 8th Congressional District. Though he did not emerge victorious, it was quite an experience!

Prior to his Congressional run, Seiden built his career by holding various positions with the U.S. government, including military service. He has been to numerous countries, including Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean.
