Uprooting ourselves and putting down roots elsewhere has become second nature. Americans are among the most mobile people on the planet, moving house an average of nine times in adulthood. Mobile Home explores one family's extreme and often international version of this common experience. Inspired by Megan Harlan's globe-wandering childhood--during which she lived in seventeen homes across four continents, ranging in location from the Alaskan tundra to a Colombian jungle, a posh flat in London to a doublewide trailer near the Arabian Gulf--Mobile Home maps the emotional structures and metaphysical geographies of home.

In ten interconnected essays, Harlan examines cultural histories that include Bedouin nomadic traditions and modern life in wheeled mobile homes, the psychology of motels and suburban tract housing, and the lived meanings within the built landscapes of Manhattan, Stonehenge, and the Winchester Mystery House. More personally, she traces the family histories that drove her parents to seek so many new horizons--and how those places shaped her upbringing. Her mother viewed houses as a kind of large-scale plastic art ever in need of renovating, while her father was a natural adventurer and loved nothing more than to travel, choosing a life of flight that also helped to mask his addiction to alcohol. These familial experiences color Harlan's current journey as a mother attempting to shape a flourishing, rooted world for her son. Her memoir in essays skillfully explores the flexible, continually inventive natures of place, family, and home.

Deceptive Advertising
There's a little bit of false advertising going on here unless you thoroughly read the description. There are three balls in the picture, but you are only purchasing two. Always read the whole description before buying!

Not the same rubber.
I just received these today. I already have two of the same size direct from the local pet store. The one thing I liked about them that made me want to buy more - my 13lb dog could chew on them all night and never leave a mark. The red one I received was as expected. The blue one I received was not made out of the same rubber. It was softer. We played catch a few times and it didn’t bounce the same. I looked away for 5 minutes and she had it already starting to shred. Not sure what happened but 1 of the 2 balls I was sent was not up to par, possibly defective.

Best ball toy I have found
Size: Small
This is my dog’s absolute favorite. I bought this one as a replacement. Finally after years of use one of the tiny ribs gave way. Ball is still completely useable, but got another. She chomps down on it constantly, tears at it, shakes it in her mouth. It is extremely durable. One of the great things about this ball is how ‘soft’ it is. Meaning the way it’s constructed makes it have a lot of give. The texture of the ball itself is firm, but the amount of ‘airiness’ means you can throw it inside your home, against walls, furniture, etc without worrying about any damage. Great toy inside and outside. Highly recommended ball toy. They make all different sizes. My dog is 25 lbs and loves both the 3” and the mini. The mini ones are the same size as mini tennis balls..problem is she would destroy a mini tennis ball within a day of getting one. She has had the mini Hol-ee Roller for years. Super durable.
