The first half of the 2010 calendar year is dominated by LindesfarneÕs wedding plans and marriage to Fenton, and the second half is concerned with the life-and-death stakes involved with KellÕs ascension to the post of CEO of Herd Thinners, Inc., thereby becoming the Top Predator of the entire world.

The year begins in crisis, involving a devastating flood and a broken leg. Less dire occasions follow, such as LindesfarneÕs college graduation and RudyÕs introduction to Wendell, the Easter Bunny-wanna-be. Dorothy has an attack of conscience, and KellÕs identical cousin Sheila confesses to a long-buried secret.

All of this builds toward the events of the autumn, when Kell realizes all of her familyÕs dreams and ambitions...at what could be the ultimate price.
