When Blue Star Salute Foundation began looking for a way to make a contribution to the Semiquincentennial, it looked to it's mission "to honor those who served, and our fallen heroes". This book, ÒA Salute to Alabama HeroesÓ, tells the story of 10 veterans from each of the 8 major conflicts from the Revolution to the War on Terror. The Congressional Medal of Honor is the United StatesÕ highest military award for valor and was first awarded during the Civil War. Alabamians have earned this award in every major conflict since that time and we have highlighted these in our work. We have also highlighted some recipients of the 2nd and 3rd highest awards, the various Cross Medals (Distinguished Service Cross and Navy Cross) and the Silver Star.

In addition to the 80 veterans from the eight major conflicts, we have included the stories of six Medal of Honor recipients in Chapter 9 that were not included in the other chapters of the book. With 86 in total, the various ranks, branch, Academy, Medal, honors, and post service occupations are summarized as follows:
¥ Thirty-eight were enlisted, four were Warrant Officers, and forty-four were Officers,
¥ Sixty-seven were in the Army, eight were in the Navy, one was in the Air Force, and ten were Marines,
¥ Thirty-two were recipients of the Medal of Honor,
¥ Nineteen were recipients of either the Distinguished Service Cross or the Navy Cross,
¥ Twelve were recipients of the Silver Star,
¥ Twenty-eight were Killed-in-Action,
¥ Thirty-four received at least one Purple Heart,
¥ Twelve were buried at Arlington National Cemetery,
¥ Eight had counties or towns named in their honor,
¥ Seven had U.S. Navy ships named in their honor,
¥ Eight went to the West Point, five went to the Naval Academy, and three went to Virginia Military Institute,
¥ Four went on to become U.S. Legislators,
¥ Three went on to become State Legislators,
¥ Three went on to become Governors,
¥ Three had Army Bases named in their honor, and
¥ Two had Alabama State Veterans Homes named in their honor.

We hope that you find our work enlightening and share the pride with these and many thousands of Alabama warriors who have fought to gain and protect our freedoms.

The Foreword of the book was written by Captain Gary Michael Rose, Field Artillery, U. S. Army Retired, Medal of Honor Recipient, Laos 1970.

Sleek and Classy Suit.
Size: 18 Years, Color: Black
This product is classy! I have a very picky son, and he lets me know how he likes to dress! And he likes this suit. :-) In the suit we got is a sleek black with a shiny lapels, and a matching vest and pants. And as a bonus it comes with a black bow tie and a red bow tie. There is no white shirt with this. The only downside to it that I can think of is that the waistband is not adjustable. I have a teen son that's almost 5'9 and he has a waste of 29 in. These pants are larger than that. We can wear a belt with it of course, but it's nice when they have adjusters on the inside as well. I will say oh that this is a nice thick fabric. It's not super heavyweight fabric, but it's not super light either. It's silky and creamy as a texture, and I'm truly impressed with it! I will be uploading a video and some photos in the next few days, but for now I just want to let you know that you can buy this with confidence. It looks great on!
