The tiny but showy cylindrical flowers resembling cigars are deep red with violet tips and bloom along the stems from spring through fall. When outside these flowers are highly attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds. Flowers best moist, well drained soils. Somewhat drought tolerant once established and makes for an easy care.
