This delightful new genealogical history work weaves threads from scores of American families and reintroduces them in the context of the events and geography that shaped their lives. The amazing amount of research is thoroughly credited throughout and even includes DNA studies. The author often refers readers to a variety of supplemental family and historical information in the impressive 38-page alphabetical addendum. She also provides a 17-page index. These I found to be particularly useful in picking my way through so many characters completely new to me, from religious and tribal leaders to whipped servants, barristers and soldiers from various rebellions and wars.
