The new Speed Lite Pro SL is designed to be even lighter than its predecessors thanks to its lightweight construction, materials, LiteAir back system, and simplified features. It features wide, ergonomically shaped shoulder straps with full ventilation, supple hip fins, and a precision-adjustable, lightly elastic sternum strap. This design creates a snug fit with minimal load wobble, allowing weight to be distributed evenly between the hips and shoulders, which helps reduce strain on both the shoulders and back. The shoulder straps and hip fins have pockets that can hold a bottle, energy bars, a cellphone, or a GPS device. The SL back length is specific for women: on average, women have shorter backs than men. The carrying system in the SL model is therefore somewhat shorter than in the Deuter standard backpacks. In addition, the carrying system is specially adapted to the female anatomy. Additionally, quick-release bungee draw cords on the shoulder straps provide easy access to poles while on the move, eliminating the need to take the pack off and allowing you to maintain your stride.
