Why do you need a performance damper? First, let's explain why engines have a damper to begin with. Each time the air/fuel mixture inside a cylinder is ignited, the combustion that occurs creates a torque spike that is applied to the crankshaft through the piston and rod. This torque spike is so severe that it not only turns the crankshaft, it actually twists the crankshaft ahead of its normal rotation and then the crankshaft rebounds. This twisting action is known as torsional vibration, and if it gets out of hand, it can cause damage. Dampers are designed to minimize these destructive vibrations.
Now, let's find out why the Fluidampr Performance Diesel Damper will do a much better job of protecting your engine than the factory stock damper. The factory rubber-based damper cannot control torsional vibrations at all RPMs, and the rubber doesn't last the life of the vehicle. On the other hand, Fluidampr automatically adapts to your engine, even when you make modifications, providing optimum damping at all frequency ranges, and because it isn't rubber-based, it will outlast the life of your truck.
The Fluidampr reduces wear on your main bearings and other vital engine components. This results in more accurate valvetrain operation, optimum engine protection at all RPMs, and a lower risk of crankshaft failure. A side benefit to vibration control is releasing lost torque and horsepower through greater efficiency. It's perfect for all stock, work, and competition-built trucks.
RECOMMENDED ADD-ONS:
- For high output 5.9L and 6.7L Cummins® engines that exceed 3,500rpm
- Adds steel pins to prevent the damper from breaking loose on high output engines
- A drill fixture is included for accurate alignment
- For 5.9L/6.7L Cummins engines up to 700 hp / 1,250 ft-lbs torque (for more power, use the Full Power Kit)
- Heat treated, high strength bolts from ARP® and a .010” thick diamond impregnated friction washer for outstanding holding power
- Should be used in conjunction with Fluidampr Cummins Drill Pin Kit #300002
- For 5.9L/6.7L Cummins engines that are above 700 hp / 1,250 ft-lbs torque
- Heat treated, high strength, extended length bolts from ARP® and a .010” thick diamond impregnated friction washer for outstanding holding power
- Should be used in conjunction with Fluidampr Cummins Drill Pin Kit #300002
