Hallmarks & Provenance

French silver. Blades marked with the Villard mark (2), used 1819–1838, for .800 silver. Caps and ferrules most likely sterling silver — often worked in sterling but not required to be marked. Maker’s mark currently being researched.

Condition

Very good. Mother of pearl excellent for age. Blades have light surface scratches in accordance with age and use. One ferrule has a slight separation at the edge where joined — stable and only visible under a jeweler’s loupe.
