Formed in 1985 after the first split of their band Bauhaus, Love and Rockets provided a clean slate and an opportunity to plumb the depths of imagination and influences. Everything changed for Love and Rockets in 1989 when they released their self-titled fourth album. The song "So Alive" reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the album attained gold status. The song reached No. 1 in Canada and charted within the top 30 in Australia, and New Zealand. In the US, it was #1 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart for five weeks and was ranked No. 1 on that listing's year-end chart for 1989. Billboard wrote that "So Alive" was "the best T. They aren't all as familiar with scripture as my husband and I are, but I've insisted on continuing the tradition my mom started of reading the Christmas Story before we open any presents. I brought this book and told them a few things covered in the book... like where the manger was. When we left, I offered to leave the book if anyone wanted to look at it... one of the girls excitedly said she was hoping I would leave it. She really wanted to read it. I couldn't have been more thrilled. I would encourage anyone interested in this book to buy it, read it, and give it to someone else who will read it too. For the money, what a great witnessing tool! It's so factual, it will speak to those who are kind of "on the fence".
