When to book a wash instead of a groom
The simplest rule: if you want anything trimmed, book a short coat groom or a deshed. If your dog just needs a clean, this is enough.
Short-coated dogs in our climate usually do well with a wash every 4 to 6 weeks. More often if they're at the beach a lot, less if they spend most of their time on the couch. Heavy shedders should book a short coat deshed instead since deshedding work is the bit that actually gets the loose undercoat out.
A note on matting. Short-coated dogs don't usually mat, but tell us at booking if you've noticed any pelting around the rump, ears or armpits. We'll work it out gently or recommend the right service.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from a full groom?
A wash is bath, dry, brush, nails and ears. A groom adds the bigger work like deshedding or sanitary clipping. Pick a wash if your dog is on a regular grooming cycle and just needs a refresh.
How is this different from a deshed?
A wash gets your dog clean and dry. A deshed uses extra time, deshedding shampoo and high-velocity drying to lift loose undercoat. If your dog is shedding heavily, the deshed is what you actually want.
How often should I book a wash?
Every 4 to 6 weeks works for most short-coated dogs. Beach dogs and bushwalkers more often.
What products do you use?
Melanie Newman, an Australian salon range. Plant-based, biodegradable. We have sensitive-skin and conditioning options.
Can my dog have a wash and a daycare day together?
Yes. Book daycare and add the wash on at booking. Pickup is one happy, clean, knackered dog.
Do you do flea and tick baths?
Yes, as an add-on. Tell us at booking if you've spotted any.
Can I use Afterpay?
Yes. Available at checkout for any eligible service.
