Dorsett Golden Apple is an exceptional low-chill apple variety prized for its early ripening, crisp texture, and reliable performance in warm climates. The Dorsett Golden Apple (Malus domestica ‘Dorsett Golden’) produces medium to large fruit with smooth golden-yellow skin and a sweet, mildly tangy flavor. Its firm, crisp flesh makes it excellent for fresh eating, pies, drying, applesauce, and juicing, while its early harvest brings the first taste of apple season to regions where many traditional varieties struggle to grow.

This heat-tolerant, vigorous apple tree thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, requiring only 100–300 chill hours—making it an ideal choice for Southern California, the Gulf Coast, and other warm-winter regions. Dorsett Golden is partially self-fruitful, but it produces significantly heavier crops when planted with a compatible low-chill partner such as Anna Apple. Ripening extremely early—often by late spring or early summer—it is one of the first apples available each season, offering crisp, sweet fruit long before most varieties are ready.

Beautiful and productive, the Dorsett Golden Apple Tree features showy white spring blossoms that attract pollinators and add ornamental value to home orchards, backyard gardens, and edible landscapes. Its dependable yields, warm-climate adaptability, and excellent fruit quality make it a favorite among gardeners seeking a premium early-season apple with exceptional flavor and versatility.

  • Pollination: Self-sterile

The Dorsett Golden Apple Tree (Malus domestica 'Dorsett Golden') is a semi-dwarf apple tree cultivar renowned for its delectable golden apples and adaptability to various climates. With its crisp, sweet, and slightly tart fruit, this tree is a favorite among orchard enthusiasts and home gardeners.

Dorsett Golden Apple Tree Basics

  • Botanical Profile: The Dorsett Golden Apple Tree belongs to the Malus domestica species and is a member of the Rosaceae family. It is known for its semi-dwarf growth habit, making it suitable for both small gardens and larger orchards.

  • Fruit Characteristics: The Dorsett Golden apple is medium to large in size, boasting a distinctive golden-yellow skin with occasional pink blushes. The flesh is firm, crisp, and juicy, offering a sweet and slightly tart flavor. These apples are excellent for fresh eating, baking, and juicing.

  • Blossom Time: This apple tree typically blooms in the early spring, producing attractive white or pink blossoms that add ornamental value to your landscape. The blossoms are also an essential stage in apple production as they attract pollinators.

Cultivation Tips for Dorsett Golden Apple Trees

  1. Location and Climate: Dorsett Golden Apple Trees thrive in a variety of climates but are particularly well-suited to warm and subtropical regions. They require a minimum of 300-400 chill hours, making them adaptable to milder winter climates.

  2. Soil Requirements: These apple trees prefer well-draining, loamy soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH level. Ensure the soil provides adequate drainage to prevent waterlogged roots.

  3. Planting: When planting a Dorsett Golden Apple Tree, choose a sunny location with at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight per day. Proper spacing, usually 12-15 feet between trees, allows for ample air circulation and sunlight exposure.

  4. Pollination: While the Dorsett Golden Apple Tree is partially self-fertile, it benefits from cross-pollination with another apple variety. Planting a different apple tree nearby ensures optimal fruit production. Popular pollinator options include Anna, Ein Shemer, and Fuji apple trees.

  5. Pruning and Maintenance: Regular pruning helps maintain the tree's shape, improve air circulation, and promote healthy fruit production. Prune during the dormant season to remove dead or diseased branches and maintain an open canopy.

Culinary Delights with Dorsett Golden Apples

  1. Fresh Eating: Dorsett Golden apples are perfect for fresh eating. The crisp texture and sweet-tart flavor make them a delightful snack or addition to fruit salads.

  2. Baking: These apples hold their shape well when baked, making them ideal for pies, crisps, tarts, and apple dumplings. Their sweet flavor adds a delicious dimension to desserts.

  3. Juicing: Dorsett Golden apples produce a flavorful and slightly tart juice that is perfect for drinking fresh or using as a base for homemade cider blends.

  4. Preserves and Sauces: Turn these apples into delectable jams, jellies, applesauce, or chutneys to enjoy their flavor year-round.

  5. Drying: Slice and dehydrate Dorsett Golden apples for homemade dried fruit snacks.

The Dorsett Golden Apple Tree is a versatile and rewarding addition to any orchard or garden. Its semi-dwarf size, adaptability to varying climates, and exquisite golden apples make it a sought-after choice for both novice and experienced growers. Whether you enjoy its fruits fresh, baked, or juiced, the Dorsett Golden apple tree is sure to delight your taste buds and enhance your culinary creations.

Fast paced romantasy you will not want to put down!
Format: Kindle
4.25 stars! I LOVED this book with similar vibes to Hush Hush, Fourth Wing, and The Serpent and the Wings of Night! It was fast paced with easy world building and will keep you turning the pages late into the night because you will not want to put it down! Huntyr is a fierce bad@ss FMC trained to kill vampyres her entire life. She is sent on a mission to go to the academy and earn her spot into The Golden City. Upon arrival, she is forced to room with the delicious fallen angel, Wolf, who is the only one who knows about her assassin identity. The romance, the plot twists, the secrets revealed, the battles, and the tantalizing training scenes had me hooked! And that ending…. I’m holding my breath in need to know hell! Read if you love: 🪽 Fae, Vampyres, Fallen Angels 🪽 Academy setting with magical trials 🪽 Forced proximity and slow burn 🪽 Rivals to lovers 🪽 Hidden identities and secrets 🪽 Tend your wounds “𝘖𝘧 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶. Excellent Rivals to Lovers!!
Format: Kindle
The tension and banter between Huntyr and Wold was delectable. I absolutely love the fallen angel and all of his flaws. Huntyr is amazing too being a badass FMC with some major trauma. The world building was great and I enjoyed the training aspect of the story. The writing was immersive and was in the story the whole time. The ending had quite a twist that I hadn’t anticipated and made my jaw DROP. Excellent job! I also loved the narration. Laura is one of my fave narrators!

OUTSTANDING
Format: Kindle
This was very, very good. The world is vast and characters are complex. There is a good plot with a whole lot going on. This is well written. Good twists and turns and some heart breaking moments. You will love these characters, they have heart and loyalty. I am hoping that there will be several more books. We've yet to see anything from the Sea Court but only a mention of them here and there. The Wood Court was given a quick couple of scenes, and only as far as some warriors, we've yet to enter their court and the Shadow Court, I'm not sure if they will be a force for good or bad, but they definitely will play a much bigger role moving forward. This is primarily the Ice and Air Courts. Told in multiple views, which I loved, it gives you a chance to see things from different eyes. There's alot of political maneuvering and deception. I loved it and will pick up the next book as it becomes available. If you like The Fae and the courts, you should love this. I think the author has mucn in store for us.

Definitely worth the read!
Format: Kindle
After taking a deep breath and taking in that wicked twist of an ending, I have finally composed myself. My first thought when I started this book was that I love Reyna's character. I was intrigued by her connection with her familiar and the Ruin that is plaguing her land. It came as no surprise that she took her sister's place in an attempt to protect her. When they reach the Air Court everything slows down. This is where it was iffy for me. First of all, I like multiple POV's in books however 7 is a bit much. It starts to interrupt the story line. I felt like I was finally making progress connecting with one character, then it was switched to another person. I felt they all had necessary or pertinent information but not necessarily were they all POV worthy. The only other thing that annoyed me was that Reyna constantly was " trapped." She would rush off without thinking, only to need rescuing. She is brilliant in a fight, but she really doesn't think through anything. Lorcan is amazing. I know he might be on the "bad" list, but his background is so interesting. Eislyn(Reyna's sister) is really so sweet, but calculating. I enjoyed her and Thane's dialogue. The author did an amazing job with the imagery in this book. Everything was so detailed it was easy to fall into the scene. I love unexpected twists and while part of the ending I expected, I wasn't expecting how it took place. All in all, I found it very entertaining and I am very invested in continuing this series. Favorite quotes: "The truth may be twisted but never false." "Who was she if she was not the enemy of the Air Court? What was her purpose of she no longer has that?" "In a war-torn land, love was always a lie."

Great Read!!! Great story!!!
Format: Kindle
The series is long, but Ms. Wolfhart does a fantastic job of weaving this tale while bringing so much to the characters. Surprises and plot twists along the way to keep you intrigued. There is some graphic sex, but is no way the focal point. Grammar was excellent (a rare find with a lot of self publishers) with only a few noted errors. I rarely give 4 stars, let alone 5.
