Genasun GVB-8 36V Voltage Boost MPPT Charge Controller for 41.7V Lithium Batteries

High-Efficiency Boost MPPT for 10S Li-Ion Systems

The Genasun GVB-8 36V Voltage Boost is a specialised MPPT solar charge controller engineered to charge 41.7V lithium battery packs (10S Li-Ion, also acceptable for 12S LiFePO4) from lower-voltage solar panels. Unlike conventional controllers that step down voltage, this boost MPPT elevates panel voltage to precisely match your battery, enabling the use of cost-effective, large-format panels typically rated below battery voltage. This approach reduces overall system cost while maintaining high efficiency.

Designed for mission-critical reliability, Genasun controllers operate in the world's most extreme environments—from Antarctic research stations to high-altitude solar aircraft. Each unit is manufactured in the USA and undergoes comprehensive electrical testing to ensure dependable performance when it matters most.

Advanced MPPT Technology: 15Hz Tracking Speed

Standard MPPT controllers often use a "sweep and sleep" algorithm, scanning the panel's power curve every 30–60 seconds. This is adequate for stationary panels under clear skies but falls short in dynamic conditions. The Genasun GVB-8 employs a high-speed MPPT algorithm that adjusts to changing light 15 times per second. This rapid tracking is critical for mobile applications—such as vehicles, marine vessels, and portable systems—where shading and orientation change constantly. The result is up to 99%+ tracking efficiency, capturing more energy from every ray of sunlight.

Optimised for 41.7V Lithium Batteries

This model is pre-configured with a CC-CV (Constant Current – Constant Voltage) charge profile tailored for 10S Li-Ion packs with a nominal voltage of 36V and a charge voltage of 41.7V. The controller delivers a precise, computer-controlled charge cycle that maximises battery capacity and extends service life. With no temperature compensation required for lithium chemistries, the profile remains stable across a wide operating range.

Key Features

  • Boost topology charges 41.7V lithium batteries from panels with Vmp as low as 5V
  • 8A rated input current supports panels up to approximately 325W (using typical ~155mm cells)
  • 15Hz MPPT tracking adapts instantly to clouds, shadows, and vehicle movement
  • Wide temperature tolerance from -40°C to 85°C for harsh environments
  • Ultra-low self-consumption (5–7mA at night) preserves battery charge
  • Fully potted, waterproof design withstands salt spray, humidity, and immersion
  • Made in the USA with rigorous end-of-line testing

Built for Extreme Environments

The GVB-8 is encased in a compact, fully potted enclosure that protects against moisture, dust, and vibration. This waterproof MPPT construction makes it ideal for marine, coastal, and off-grid installations where reliability is non-negotiable. The controller operates silently—no cooling fans—and its low electromagnetic emissions ensure compatibility with sensitive communication equipment.

Simplified System Design

By decoupling panel voltage from battery voltage, the boost architecture allows a single large panel to replace multiple smaller panels wired in series. This not only lowers hardware costs but also simplifies mounting and wiring. The controller's 3/8"-16 (Approx. M10) stud terminals accept heavy-duty lugs up to 4/0 AWG (approx. 95mm²), ensuring secure, low-resistance connections for high-current applications.

Applications

  • Charging 36V lithium battery banks in off-grid solar systems
  • Marine and RV installations requiring waterproof, corrosion-resistant electronics
  • Remote monitoring stations, telecommunications, and scientific equipment
  • Portable power packs and mobile solar generators
  • Any application where panel voltage is lower than battery voltage

Heavy-Duty Solution for Large Towers — Rock Solid
This CPU holder is exactly what I needed to reclaim my desktop workspace. I wanted to get the computer off the desk to clear up room for projects, but I didn't want to put it on the floor where it’s susceptible to static and pet hair. This mount keeps the tower tucked away under the desk but still within easy reach. Build Quality & Weight: The unit is impressively well-built with sturdy steel. While the specs state it can hold up to 44 lbs, my current build is closer to 20 lbs, and it handles it with zero flex or wobble. It feels very secure once locked in. Design & Airflow: One of the best benefits I’ve noticed is the noise reduction. Having the case mounted under the desk surface helps shield the sound of the fans, creating a quieter workspace. The open-frame design is also great for airflow and keeps all the ports easily accessible. It’s highly adjustable (width 7.7” to 11.8” and height 20” to 25.8”), so it should fit almost any full-size case. Installation Tip: Installation was straightforward, though I’d recommend measuring your desk thickness first to ensure it can support the weight. If you’re looking for a solid, full-size PC holder to keep your system off the floor, this is a great choice. It feels like a professional-grade mount that will last through several different builds.

Great way to keep your PC off the floor, especially with a standing desk
This mount is a great solution if you want to get your desktop tower off the floor and clean up the space around your desk. The construction feels very solid and once installed it holds the PC securely without any wobble. I like that the frame is adjustable so it can fit different case sizes, and the open design allows for good airflow while still supporting the case well. It is especially helpful if you have a standing desk. Keeping the tower mounted under the desk means all of the cables move with the desk when it raises or lowers, which makes everything much cleaner and easier to manage. Installation takes a little planning to line things up correctly, but once it is mounted it feels very secure. If you want a cleaner workspace and a better setup for a standing desk, this mount works really well.

Built Like a Tank… Maybe Too Big
This thing is solid. The build quality is exactly what you want when you’re hanging a PC under a desk—sturdy steel, secure mounting, and plenty of adjustability to fit larger cases. It definitely does its job of getting your tower off the floor and out of the way. That said, size matters here—and this is built for big cases. If your setup is more compact, it is overkill. Definitely measure before you commit, because while the adjustability is nice, it’s clearly designed with larger towers in mind. Pros: Very sturdy, confidence-inspiring build Adjustable to fit a wide range of larger PC cases Keeps PC off the floor (less dust, more space) Can mount under desk or on wall Cons: Oversized for smaller or mid-sized builds Requires careful measuring before install Bulkier than some alternative mounts Bottom Line: A heavy-duty mount that does exactly what it promises—just make sure your PC actually needs something this big before you commit.

Rock Solid and Computer / Wall Safe! Last PC Mount you'll ever need.
This is the hardware that you want in your office: robust, no-nonsense, and able to boss you around its workload. I installed a full size PC case/server in it, and it is rock solid once you lock it in. The open-frame design also merits a mention here as it greatly improves airflow and allows you to access ports on the motherboards and other hardware on your rig should you want to during your gaming sessions without bringing too much heat inside and causing headaches. The width of the holder can be adjusted (approximately 7.7” through 11.8”) in width and (approximately 20” through 25.8”) in height so it fits a large variety of towers, so you don't have to worry whether it could fit your set-up or not. Smaller towers may have substantially more wiggle room though. The mount's weight limit is no joke—up to 44 lbs—so you're not sacrificing stability just to save a few bucks. The shells are quite secure, although some people may have wished for a little more tightening bite; they still prevent your equipment from falling off if you accidentally bump on a wall, which is more important than you may think. A little nitpick: the lower wall-mount bracket could have a couple of extra pilot holes to reduce twisting over time. Not a breaker, just a heads-up for all of you who are looking to the long term. Altogether, it's a reliable, solid fix that is well worth the cost, particularly if you're cramming space and airflow in a tight configuration.
