This single DVD contains ten stories from a very rare animated series Bailey's Comets that aired on CBS Saturday morning lineup premiering in 1973.

Different roller-skating teams compete in a worldwide race to different locations searching for clues that will lead them to a million-dollar prize at the end of the race. Besides the teams interfering with each other, there were also outside forces and subplots that would step in to hinder the teams' progress.

The protagonists and the team presented as most likely to win the million-dollar prize were a group of teenageFrs called Bailey's Comets. This team consisted of:

  • Barnaby Bailey (voiced by Carl Esser) - The handsome, youthful leader of the team. He is the one who generally calls the shots and has to (reluctantly) take the most risks.
  • Candy (voiced by Karen Smith) - A blonde-haired girl, presumably Barnaby's girlfriend, as she is the one who pushes him to take risks when necessary.
  • Sarge (voiced by Kathy Gori in a Brooklyn accent) - A red-haired girl who was the team motivator.
  • Wheelie (voiced by Jim Begg) - The team mechanic who comes up with strange roller skate-based inventions.
  • Bunny (voiced by Sarah Kennedy) - A sweet-natured, yet very ditzy girl.
  • Pudge (voiced by Frank Welker) - Good-natured but prone to trouble; he was on the hefty side, yet had almost no difficulty keeping up with the rest of the team. Was especially fond of bananas, prompting Wheelie to refer to him as "Banana Brain" whenever Pudge made a mistake.

Other teams

Bailey's Comets were constantly being hindered by the other skating teams who also interfere with one another. The other skating teams consist of:

  • The Texas Black Hats - A group of outlaw cowboys that rode on roller skate-wearing horses. They are led by an unnamed outlaw (voiced by Daws Butler).
  • The Jekyll-Hydes - A group of top hat-wearing English doctors that would turn into hideous, green-skinned creatures at the most inopportune times that are led by Henry (voiced by Don Messick). Their "Jekyll" Forms resembled the Roland character from the Roland and Ratfink theatrical shorts.
  • The Ramblin' Rivets - A team consisting of a professor (voiced by Daws Butler) and his robots named Scrappy, Boltsbucket, and Fenderbender. The robots each contained all sorts of mechanical contraptions to help their team advance in the race.
  • The Duster Busters - A motorcycle gang. They skated in half-sitting positions as if they were mounted on motorcycles.
  • The Roller Coasters - A circus-based team consisting of a ringmaster (voiced by Don Messick), Hercules the Strongman, Big Bertha the Fat Lady, a lion on roller-skates, a clown that rides on a lion, and an Indian Rubber Man.
  • The Stone Rollers - A team consisting of three roller-skating cavemen (all voiced by Bob Holt) and their roller-skating dinosaur (vocal effects provided by Don Messick).
  • The Cosmic Rays - A team consisting of four aliens inside a skating flying saucer.
  • The Gargantuan Giants - Literally, a giant football team, so huge that only their skates would be seen onscreen. They were led by a normal-sized coach (voiced by Don Messick) who rode on the skates of one of the other members of his team.
  • The Rockin' Rollers - A rock band.
  • The Broomer Girls - A team of witches on roller skate-equipped brooms that are led by Auntie Hag. They also had a snickering roller-skating cat on their team.
  • The Roller Bears - A team of five roller-skating bears which consist of four bears and one bear cub. They were the most hapless of the teams, constantly blundering and always laughing like idiots no matter how badly things got.
  • The Mystery Mob - A team of skaters that are constantly immersed in a huge cloud of dust with flailing arms and legs. No one knows what they look like.
  • The Yo Ho-Ho's - A team of pirates led by a William Bligh-type pirate captain (voiced by Daws Butler). They use a roller skate-equipped raft. One pirate rows, another pirate serves as the mast by holding a sail, and the other rides in a roller skate-equipped barrel attached to the raft.
  • The Hairy Mountain Red Eyes - A family of hillbillies. Pa (voiced by Don Messick) rode in a roller skate-equipped wash bucket. Ma carried a hoe, and there were two boys consisting of Cornball and another one who carried a pig.

Commentators

There were also two commentators named Gabby (voiced by Frank Welker impersonating Howard Cosell) and Dooter Roo (voiced by Daws Butler) keeping constant track of the proceedings from a helicopter. Very rarely, however, did they ever get involved in the actual goings-on of the race.

This very rare cartoon series features 10 of the produced stories: Skateroo to the Carlsbad Clue - To Win or Toulose - Raja and Out - Ghost of a Clue - Amazon Jungle Bungle - Trans Turkey Foul Up - Transylvania Mad Transit - Philippine Slip Flop - Lochness Mess - Gold Fever Goof Up.

Alligator chew toy
Color: purple, Color: purple
Excellent for heavy duty chewing. Good size for medium size (15-25lbs.). An instant hit with my dog. Very durable. I feel it is safe for my dog to have unsupervised. I rate this HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Held Up Better Than Most for My Aggressive Chewer
Color: purple, Color: purple
I have to give the Fuufome Dog Chew Toy for Aggressive Chewers a solid 3 out of 5 stars. I have a very high-energy Lab mix named Boone who is an extremely aggressive chewer. Finding toys that last in our house is nearly impossible. This is actually his second toy like this - the first one is currently in my yard in three different pieces. While I don’t believe this toy was advertised as indestructible, I still hoped it would fully survive Boone’s chewing. Some parts have held up well, which is more than I can say for many other toys we’ve tried. However, he was still able to do some noticeable damage to the rubber portion after consistent use. To be fair, it did last longer than most toys we’ve purchased, which says a lot considering how tough Boone is on his things. For moderate chewers, I think this would hold up quite well. For truly aggressive chewers like mine, it’s tougher than average but still may show wear over time.

Best toy for heavy chewers
Color: Green
My dog is an aggressive chewer and I have trouble finding toys that last longer than 5 minutes before being so destroyed it is no longer safe to let him keep it. He loves this toy and naws on it for hours daily. Yes, it has multiple chew marks, but it is still intact completely. No little pieces have been chewed off. I highly recommend this toy for any dog especially those who destroy every toy in seconds like mine does.

NOT Indestructible and a Nylon Product (NOT A CHEW TOY)
Color: Green, Color: Green
I gave this dog toy 2-stars based on my dog toy rating system (DTRS) for “Bruce” the Green Alligator! Unfortunately, I didn’t notice in the fine print of the product description on the website that this toy consisted of Nylon. If I noticed that description, I would’ve never purchased this product. Please do your own research on Nylon wrt teeth. I wasn’t impressed with the toy construction out of the box. The nylon head and tail sandwich the rubber body with soft rubber spines on Bruce’s back for easy gripping. This is not an “Indestructible” dog toy. Safety (1-rating): 1. I was always concerned about my dog’s teeth possibly cracking while he was chewing on Bruce’s Nylon ends. Thankfully, his teeth were fine throughout the use of this toy. 2. The Nylon came off in small pieces after a few hours and continued for the life of the toy; see picture. I never intended for my dog to swallow pieces of Nylon. 3. Bruce’s rubber rear end is where most of the damage occurred, as my dog was tearing off pieces of rubber and spines, which he thankfully passed through his system over a period of 2-3 days after I threw Bruce away; see picture. 4. The chewed-up Nylon ends were very hard, rough, sharp and pointy. There were occasions where I noticed my dog’s gums were bleeding as a result of chewing this toy. 5. Bruce is big enough not to swallow in its entirety, which is why I’m giving this a 1-rating for safety. 6. This is a molded product and not a plush product. Durability (2-rating): 1. It took my dog 1 to 2-weeks to get the toy in the shape that is shown on the posted photos. 2. The Nylon was immediately being scratched and scraped apart on day-1. Then I noticed pieces of Nylon coming off of Bruce after 3-4 days. 3. The rubber was immediately being punctured with small divots around the body on day-1. I noticed over the next couple of days that my dog was focusing on the rear end and trying to pull the rubber off the Nylon tail. 4. The rubber started coming off more quickly after 1-week, until I removed it all together. Squeaker (N/A): 1. Bruce has no squeaker. Fatality (2-rating): 1. Bruce had a longer life than most of my dog’s toys, but then again, I expected this to last much longer as the seller claims it is “Indestructible”, which it is not. 2. I tried filing off some of Bruce’s chewed up Nylon ends to smooth them out for more chew time, but came to my senses and just threw him away for safety concerns only. In conclusion, “Bruce” the Green Alligator should not be given as a chew toy, but more as a fetch toy, unless you want your dog to digest the Nylon and rubber materials. Days of Enjoyment Given to Dog: 12/16/2024 Dog Toy Death: 01/08/2025 Total Days Used: 13 days (11 days spent away from home during the holidays) About my dog “Cannoli” for comparison Breed: Blue Healer / Lab mix Sex: Male Age: 8-months Weight: 45-lbs Size: Medium Energy Level: High Chew Rating: Aggressive

This has been a challenge for my extreme chewer! The toy is winning
Color: Green
Indestructible? Not for my pitbull. Except on this toy. She has slowly chewed some of the outer portion on the backside, but it still has a lot of gnawing time left. This is her go-to toy now. she carries it nearly everywhere. She loves it. I am amazed at how well it is holding up. Within minutes, hours or a few days, the other "indestructible" toys I've purchased, never survived as described. This is a heavy toy! Not for the weak! I cannot stress enough the extreme chewer my dog is. Yet, I can see this toy lasting months. It won't be pretty then but it will most likely still be a favorite chew toy. I'm glad I found this and will be buying more. FYI's... 1) Chewability-5 stars 2) Softness-1 star, it's solid but chewable, 3) Bounce-0 stars, No bounce, it's heavy!, Playability- 5 stars. My dog plays with it, lets it lay with her when resting. Nearly always within her reach. She sleeps with it! That's love.
