FW 2021 marked a pivotal point of Demna’s career. Being in the height of the COVID pandemic, Demna had to devise a plan to launch the collection within the imposed restrictions. He reached out to a team of video game developers and engineers to create a unique augmented reality experience. This lead to the release of “Afterworld: The age of tomorrow”, a video game that was a substitution to the traditional runway show. Each model was scanned in real-time, producing 1:1 replicas of characters in the video game wearing the collections garments. Players were guided through a dystopian, futuristic journey set in 2031.
Most of these themes are present in this beautiful cotton blazer. Featuring padded shoulders creating demnas signature exagerrated look and heavy distressing throughout the lapel, collar, sleeves and hems.
