Hartnoot: de persoonlijkheid van het parfum Deze ontvouwt zich enkele uren en vormt de karakteristieke geur van een parfum. Het is minder intens dan de topnoot, maar hierdoor kan het langer duren.

Achtergrondnota: rijkdom en weelde is de noot die het langst nodig heeft om te verdampen (het duurt soms zelfs enkele dagen!). De belangrijkste functie is om het parfum te fixeren om het zo lang mogelijk mee te laten gaan.
