Louis Latour Morgon 2023 is een rode Beaujolais cru van 100% Gamay, afkomstig uit Morgon. Deze appellation staat bekend om wijnen die steviger en donkerder van kleur zijn dan veel andere Beaujolais crus, vooral door de lokale bodem met verweerd schist, zand en leisteen. In deze 2023 komen donker bosfruit, zwarte kers, kruidnagel en frisse spanning samen in een ronde, sappige stijl met opvallend veel lengte.

Wijngaarden en regio

Morgon ligt in Beaujolais en geeft Gamay een serieuzer, steviger karakter dan veel lichtere wijnen uit de regio.

• Ligging / Herkomst: De appellation Morgon ligt volledig rond Villié-Morgon. Deze herkomst is een van de bekende Beaujolais crus en staat binnen de regio bekend om donkerder, krachtiger Gamay.

• Bodem: De bodem bestaat uit roze schistachtig graniet, met relatief veel zand en leisteen door de verwering van lokale schistlagen. Dat geeft Morgon meer stevigheid, kleur en structuur dan veel andere crus.

• Wijngaard: De stokken zijn gemiddeld 30 jaar oud. Die leeftijd helpt de wijn aan meer concentratie en diepte, zonder het frisse karakter van Gamay te verliezen.

• Oogst & Opbrengst: De druiven worden met de hand geoogst en de gemiddelde opbrengst ligt rond 50 hl per hectare. Dat past bij een wijn waarin rijp fruit, frisheid en structuur in balans moeten blijven.

Druivensamenstelling

Deze rode Beaujolais wordt volledig gemaakt van Gamay.

• 100% Gamay – Morgon: Gamay geeft deze wijn zijn sappige fruit, frisse zuren en soepele tannines. In Morgon krijgt de druif meer diepte, donkerder fruit en extra grip door de schistachtige bodem.

Vinificatie en rijping

De vinificatie is klassiek voor een fruitrijke maar gestructureerde Gamay uit Beaujolais.

• Vergisting: De wijn vergist traditioneel in open kuipen en ondergaat volledige malolactische omzetting. Daardoor worden de zuren ronder en krijgt de wijn een zachtere, meer toegankelijke structuur.

• Rijping: De wijn rijpt 8–10 maanden in roestvrijstalen tanks. Hierdoor blijft de nadruk liggen op puur fruit, frisheid en het karakter van Morgon, zonder houtinvloed.

• Bewaarpotentieel: Louis Latour Morgon 2023 kan 5–7 jaar worden bewaard. Met flesrijping kan het donkere fruit zich verder ontwikkelen richting meer kruidigheid en zachtere structuur.

Proefnotities en serveertips

Louis Latour Morgon 2023 heeft een heldere granaatrode kleur en een intense geur van braam, blauwe bes en wilde aardbei. In de smaak is de wijn rond en fris, met tonen van zwarte kers en kruidnagel. De afdronk is lang, harmonieus en mooi persistent.

• Serveertemperatuur: Serveer deze Morgon op 13–15 °C, zodat het donkere fruit, de frisse zuren en de fijne tannines goed samenkomen.

• Gerechten: Lekker bij gevogelte, rood vlees, charcuterie, kalfsvlees, gebraden kip en rijpe kazen.

I have lusted after this watch for four months. I first tried on a similar model (stainless steel band with a green face) in a local jewelry shop (Spitz Jewlers, Walnut Creek, CA, USA). It was "love at first sight," even if I didn't love the white lines on the face from 12-6 and 3-9. At the time, the MSRP was $775. The MSRP has since increased to $795. But I bought this beauty on Amazon.com for only $524.99; after applying the cash-back from my Prime credit card, this watch costs only $498.75. This was "the offer that I could not refuse," to quote from "The Godfather." Accuracy could be better: after only a few days, it is now 7 seconds behind my phone (to which I set my new watch). But I don't really care about that all that much. This is why I rated "accuracy" at 4 stars, but my overall review is 5 stars. My video shows the date changing suddenly at 11:59:59pm, just how I want it; in another photo, you can see that my Seiko changes the date more slowly, which I do not like. This watch is absolutely phenomenally beautiful. If you're on the fence over whether to make this purchase, then I would say "go for it!" You will not find a prettier, more accurate watch at a lower price in ANY store in the entire USA.

Arrived on time, in its original box, include a 2 year international warranty, into the box include a book with the Tissot brand history in Switzerland. Algo a second book with a whole catalog of Tissot watches men and women. The watch looks better when you put in on your wrist. The “naval” blue really gives the clock a classy look. The stainless steel workmanship is really good, the metal is bright and perfectly polished.
