Yes. If you purchase the analog-only version to match an older legacy fleet, you can unlock full DMR digital capabilities at any time in the future by purchasing a software upgrade license from Motorola.
What is the difference between the UHF and VHF models?
UHF (Ultra High Frequency) is generally better for indoor use or mixed environments because the shorter radio waves easily penetrate steel, concrete, and wood. VHF (Very High Frequency) travels further outdoors and is ideal for wide-open spaces, agriculture, and marine environments.
Is the CP200d compatible with my old CP200 accessories?
Yes. The CP200d was explicitly designed to use the exact same 2-pin audio accessory connector, chargers, and battery form factor as the original, discontinued CP200.
Did Motorola replace the CP200d?
Yes. Motorola recently released the MOTOTRBO R2 as the modernized, next-generation replacement for the CP200d. However, the CP200d remains heavily utilized across industries and continues to be fully supported.
