Beginning life as a circuit in Champion Leccy's other pedals—The Gett and The Bloody Gett—it's purpose was simple: adding crushingly loud, noisy fuzziness with hefty low end. The Dunsh takes that sound and adds a full interface for versatile, wide-ranging tones.
The pedal features a gain control as well as a bias knob to adjust the main transistor stage. As you crank the bias clockwise, it will start to sputter and choke out. When the gain is turned up, the bias control starts to act as a noise gate, eliminating the noise floor.
The B (bottom) and T (top) controls are part of the EQ section of the pedal. At noon, the knobs have no effect. Turn them clockwise to boost or counterclockwise to cut. The B and T switches, directly below the knobs, are marked with lo, hi, and mid for the three positions covering a lot of ground for dialing in tone. The gate control, located between the EQ switches, gates your signal and does some cool, weird voicing things. The more gain you add, the less gating occurs.
The level control sets the output volume of the pedal. Additionally, there is a second footswitch for the namesake ‘dunsh’ sound, allowing you to step up the effect. The Dunsh is not an independent effect, but rather an internal boost to one section of the circuit. There is also a separate volume control for the Dunsh, allowing you to set an independent level for it.
The Dunsh also features three ‘set and forget’ internal DIP switches. One controls the low end roll-off, one controls the high end roll-off, and one controls the intensity of the Dunsh effect. The settings on these switches depend on the instrument/style you’re playing.
With tons of output gain, a versatile EQ section, and gating options at your fingertips, The Dunsh can cover a lot of ground ranging from loud, clean boosts to roaring, cacophonous fuzz-stortion.
