RÉSUMÉ: Cosmo, employé d’un vidéo-club dans le quartier de San Pedro, à Los Angeles, découvre que l’une des cassettes en location dans le magasin – un film de science-fiction intitulé Remote Control – provoque des pulsions meurtrières chez tous ceux qui la visionnent. Avec l’aide de son ami Georgie, Cosmo mène alors son enquête, et finit par mettre au jour un complot d’origine extraterrestre.

A PROPOS DU FILM: En reprenant l’un des thèmes de prédilection de la science-fiction (l’invasion de la Terre par des extraterrestres), Jeff Lieberman (Blue Sunshine, Survivance) rend hommage, avec Meurtres en VHS, à la fois aux films de SF des années 1950 et à l’esprit des années 1980. On notera la présence de Kevin Dillon (Platoon), de Deborah Goodrich (Week-end de terreur), ainsi que de Jennifer Tilly (Bound, La fiancée de Chucky) au sein de cette comédie fantastique qui n’était plus visible en France depuis sa distribution… en VHS !
