De Sorbus aria ‘Magnifica’ is een brede piramidaal/ovaal vormige Sorbus met een dichte kroon. Deze soort valt onder de Rosaceae familie en kan 8 á 12 meter hoog worden. De boom heeft een groen blad, wat in de herfst vrij lang aan de boom blijft hangen. In mei toont de boom een prachtige bloesem, wit van kleur. De oranjerode besjes zijn aantrekkelijk voor vogels, dus zorgen voor biodiversiteit in uw tuin.

De Sorbus aria ‘Magnifica’ valt onder de ‘Rosaceae’ familie oftewel de rozenfamilie. De Sorbus aria ‘Magnifica’ wordt in de Nederlandse benaming ook wel meelbes of gewone lijsterbes genoemd.

De Meelbes 'Magnifica' wordt vrij groot dus is geschikt voor een grotere tuin. De boom staat het liefste op een plek in de zon of halfschaduw. Hij is goed winterhard en kan ook redelijk goed tegen de wind, ook kan hij goed in verharding geplant worden. Verder kan de boom in een zand- leem of kleigrond geplant worden. De boom is gewoonlijk niet giftig voor mensen of dieren, dus is ook geschikt om nabij een wei te planten. De boom staat in mei in een witte bloei, en trekt daardoor ook bijen aan. Deze soort is in ons assortiment te vinden als hoogstam.

De Sorbus aria ‘Magnifica’ wordt vaak als aanplanting gebruikt in parken, grote tuinen en brede straten. De boom kan indien nodig vanaf juni t/m februari gesnoeid worden. In closing, one must ask the obvious question after reading all of this. That question is: "Do penguins have knees?" Whilst you ponder that, just think about how good those jeans are going to look on you. A coupla days later they're going to look great in the window of the laundry machine (front load) at the laundromat and again when you put them in the dryer. Other people are just going to sob quietly about how icky their clothes look when compared to yours. Okay. The fact of the matter is that, yes, penguins do have knees. Now that you know that, I'm sure you'll rest much better and probably get better fuel mileage. Of course, that may not be true. I hope you've at least taken away from this little novel, that I'm very happy with the product and will absolutely be buying more in the near future. The rest of the silliness is just there to, hopefully, bring a little smile/sunshine into your day/night and I sincerely believe that it will be passed on from you to others, thus we can all spread a bit of happiness in a world that is in dire need of more love and less hate. ~peace to all
