How it works

01
Drop off

Quick chat about how heavy the shedding is, any skin sensitivities and what's worked or not worked before.

02
Bath and product soak

Deshedding shampoo worked into the coat and left to do its job. Loosens the undercoat from the skin.

03
High-velocity dry and rake

The serious deshedding work happens here. Dryer plus rake plus patience.

04
Pickup

We text when ready. You'll see (and feel) the difference straight away.

Short coat deshed grooms take 90 minutes to 2 hours. Heavier coats and seasonal blow-outs (spring and autumn) take longer. Worth it.

Pricing by size

Why deshedding actually matters

Short-coated dogs aren't low-maintenance. They've got a dense undercoat that sheds in cycles, and when it doesn't come out at the groomer it comes out on your floors, your car seats and your favourite jumper. A proper deshed once every 6 to 8 weeks (more often during spring and autumn coat blows) keeps it under control.

The other reason it matters: trapped dead coat traps moisture against the skin, which on the Gold Coast in summer means hot spots, fungal issues and that classic doggy smell. Deshedding is as much skin care as fur control.

A note on matting. Even short coats can pelt around the rump, behind the ears or along the belly. Tell us at booking if you've noticed any matting so we can plan the visit. We don't pull on tight mats, we work them out gently or recommend a humane reset clip if dematting would be painful.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from a regular groom?

A regular groom focuses on cleaning, tidying and clipping. A deshed adds extra time, deshedding shampoo and high-velocity drying specifically to lift loose undercoat. If your dog sheds heavily, a deshed will reduce shedding noticeably for several weeks.

How often should I book a deshed?

Every 6 to 8 weeks for most short-coated breeds. During spring and autumn coat changes, drop to every 4 to 6 weeks. Regular brushing at home extends the time between visits.

Will it stop my dog shedding completely?

No, and anyone who tells you that is selling something. Healthy dogs shed. A deshed dramatically reduces the amount of loose hair coming off your dog for the next 4 to 6 weeks.

My dog has skin issues. Is the deshedding shampoo OK?

Tell us at booking and we'll swap to a sensitive-skin or medicated shampoo. We can still get the deshedding work done with a gentler bath.

What products do you use?

Melanie Newman, an Australian salon range. We use their deshedding-specific formula plus options for sensitive skin, medicated needs or general conditioning.

Can puppies have a deshed?

Yes, from around 6 months once their adult coat is in. For puppies under 6 months, our Puppy Introduction Groom is the right place to start.

Do you accept nervous or senior dogs?

Yes. Tell us when you book so we can allow extra settling time and plan a calmer pace.

Fae Courts with High Intrigue
Format: Kindle
This book is one that just builds and builds and then surprises you to no end. You may think you know the villains and then you are jolted in another direction. Princess Reyna is a real gem, strong of character, a fierce fighter, and loyal to her family and kingdom. Just when you think she and Lorcan, well you know, the plot is flipped. Can't wait to see where this goes in book two.

Slow, sorry but good
Format: Kindle
This was a slow moving book. Lots of character pov chapters, lots of superfluous descriptions and endless courtly appearances stalled this book to start. Once you get into the heart of the story, it takes off. Before you know it the book is done. My favorite character is Reyna. She is so strong. She is true to herself. She gets into a lot of trouble with her headstrong ways but it's entertaining. I have high hopes for Lorcan. He is honorable to a fault. Thane had turned out to be better than I thought but i still don't like him. Eislin is useless. Great plot twists at the end. I'm looking forward too book 2.

Very detailed! Beautiful world building! Strong Heroine!
Format: Kindle
Starts off a little slow and confusing with different POV’s, but starts to all come together towards the middle to make an elaborate plot line and makes it all worth it. Beautiful world building and attention to detail as well as great writing. The cliffhanger was gut wrenching! Can’t wait for the next book!

Interesting
Format: Kindle
This was a very captivating book once you got into it thoroughly. But the third person perspective was a bit hard to get used to. But as you got into it and followed the different characters, it was interesting and filled with intrigue, conflict and forbidden love. I can’t wait to read the next one and to complete the series.

OUTSTANDING
Format: Kindle
This was very, very good. The world is vast and characters are complex. There is a good plot with a whole lot going on. This is well written. Good twists and turns and some heart breaking moments. You will love these characters, they have heart and loyalty. I am hoping that there will be several more books. We've yet to see anything from the Sea Court but only a mention of them here and there. The Wood Court was given a quick couple of scenes, and only as far as some warriors, we've yet to enter their court and the Shadow Court, I'm not sure if they will be a force for good or bad, but they definitely will play a much bigger role moving forward. This is primarily the Ice and Air Courts. Told in multiple views, which I loved, it gives you a chance to see things from different eyes. There's alot of political maneuvering and deception. I loved it and will pick up the next book as it becomes available. If you like The Fae and the courts, you should love this. I think the author has mucn in store for us.
